About the Author
Oscar Wilde was born on 16th October, 1854 in Ireland. He was an Irish writer and poet. After writing in different forms through the 1880s, he became on of London's most popular playwrights in the early 1890s. At the height of his fame and success, he produced his masterpiece The Importance of Being Earnest (1895). He is widely remembered for his witty comments, his epigrams and his brilliant plays. His other works are The Picture of Dorian Gray, De Profound, The Ballad of Reading Goal and The Happy Prince.
